There's a big change to NFPA 70B: electrical maintenance is now standard. NFPA 70B encourages a culture of preventative maintenance & safety, and highlights the advantages that digitalized electrical networks can provide.
Electrical equipment maintenance is no longer a recommended practice, it’s now a standard mandated by NFPA 70B – and is immediately enforceable by an authority having jurisdiction (electrical inspector, OSHA, insurance agency, etc.)
NFPA 70B now mandates a facility:
- Document and maintain a complete electrical maintenance plan
- Maintain up-to-date single lines, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
- Use continuous monitoring or predictive techniques when determining maintenance periodicities
Is your facility ready to comply to the latest standards?
It is the equipment owner's responsibility the safety of their employees and the reliability of their electrical equipment.
